Sat Oct 10 | 6:30 pm | GPS Movie Night Cosplay and Fundraiser Event
GPS Movie Night would like to invite you to join us for an evening of Fun Feminist Science Fiction from Down Under. Along with screening a couple of great films, we will be raising funds for BCRF as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month and encouraging anyone interested to join in on the fun with movie inspired Cosplay. Due to licensing requirements we cannot publicize the titles, but here are the hints from the Eventbrite page.
What A Lovely Day – We will begin our evening with an apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
If you missed this one in the theater this summer, here is your chance to watch it “on the big screen” at Event Horizon.
In 2033, Justice Rides a Tank and Wears Lip Gloss – Based on the British cult comic-strip, our tank-riding anti-heroine fights a mega-corporation, which controls the world’s water supply. Rebecca (Lori Petty) makes friends with Jet Girl (Naomi Watts) and a group of Kangaroo-Hybrid Super-soldiers (Ice T, Jeff Kober) who join her on a quest to avenge the death of her friends, rescue young Sam from the evil Kesslee (Malcolm McDowell) and take down Water and Power.
Join your tribe for an evening of film and fun in the annex at GPS Event Horizon. Located at 1121 Jackson St NE in Minneapolis, it’s the only volunteer run, non-profit, geek community center in the state of MN.
As always, feel free to bring your own snacks (or dinner!) and a comfy chair. We will have some snacks and soda available for sale. Room 107.
Still not sure what we’re watching? RSVP for the event and we will send you the titles in your confirmation email.
